Santa Fe Recovery Center (SFRC) is searching for a dynamic and
motivated Child Care Specialist who will provide childcare and
support for children 0 to 6 years of age. The qualified candidates
should have previous childcare experience and credentials.
SFRC's Residential treatment is a 30 to 120-day commitment. The
Women's program provides 32 treatment beds for women, pregnant
women, or women who have small children. The center for women and
children is unique in New Mexico because it enables mothers to
bring their children (0-6 years) with them while in residential
treatment. Gender-specific treatment for women focuses on
self-esteem, self-worth, and value in an open and honest
atmosphere. Mothers are encouraged to discuss their feelings and
explore strategies for reunification with their children. This
program is aimed at ceasing the generational cycle of trauma,
illness, and addiction among families.
Under the supervision of the Project Director, Women's and
Children's Services, the Childcare Specialist is responsible for
the safety and care of children of women receiving treatment at
SFRC's residential program. The Childcare Specialist provides
care/supervision, oversight, and accountability for children
staying with their mothers in the program. The Childcare Specialist
assists in preparing age-appropriate curriculum and activities;
supervises children during indoor and outdoor activities and
arranges and serves snacks/meals. Executes work in accordance with
SFRC policies and regulations.

Childcare Specialist: (Included but not limited to) You'll report
to the Project Director, Women and Children's Services and:
- Access to our comprehensive Employee Assistance Program,
providing 24/7/365 access to a licensed professional for staff and
their immediate families
- Facilitate Circle of security parenting classes and encourage
the caregiver to reflect on the children's attachment needs to
secure attachment with the child.
- Maintains records relating to childcare. Completes daily
documentation of each child in InSync. Adds children demographics
to Unite Us platform.
- Assists with admissions and discharges of mothers and children
including setting up bedrooms to meet child's needs, tracking
inventory of supplies given to mother, giving a tour of the
childcare facility, and reviewing childcare guidelines and
policies.
- Monitors inventory of supplies needed for childcare. If items
are needed a purchase requisition needs to be written and approved
by the approved staff.
- Data collection and other grant related tasks assigned by
direct supervisor. When childcare duties are not
required.Requirements:Minimum Qualifications:
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
- Strong understanding of stages of childhood development.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to communicate with and take direction from the staff at
various levels, clients, family members, and community service
providers.
- Possess skills that promote teamwork and critical
thinking/problem-solving.
- Possess decisiveness, patience, and stamina to chase after,
lift, or carry children.
- Must be able to lift packages that contain baby/children's
items.
- Sound understanding of all federal and state regulations
including HIPAA and OSHA.
- Must be computer literate in meeting requirements for use of
Electronic Health Record systems, enterprise resource planning
software, and other electronic platforms.Education and
Experience:
- High school diploma or GED. Required.
- New Mexico Early Care, Education, and Family Support, 45- hours
Entry Level Course or equivalent. Required.
- Associate's degree in early child development/child
development. Preferred.
- At least one year of experience directly related to the duties
and responsibilities specified.
- Minimum 21 years of age.
- Current certificates in CPR and First Aid.
- Must have and maintain a current, valid NM Driver's License.
Must have and maintain a clean driving record, as well as auto
insurance.
- Bi-lingual/Bi-cultural preferred (English/Spanish).
