Presbyterian Medical Group seeks a Physician Assistant or Nurse
Practitioner to join our established Neurohospitalist team in New
Mexico. We're all about well-being, starting with yours. We offer a

Practice Highlights
Provide inpatient neurological services. Diagnose and manage acute
and chronic neurologic diseases (emphasis on stroke patient
management). Services include obtaining pertinent history,
performing examinations, ordering and interpreting appropriate
laboratory tests and prescribing appropriate medications and
treatment. Procedures to include lumbar punctures
Responsibilities:
Provides direct medical management including diagnosis and
management of acute and chronic neurologic diseases. Services are
coordinated in concert with Consulting Physicians of patients cared
for by the neuro-hospitalist group
Support the Adult neurology inpatient service, as required, Monday
through Friday. Remains in-house during assigned shift.
Work with the Neurologists in completing consultations, rounding,
and managing patient care during the assigned shift
Provide complete and timely dictation on all clinical work. Submits
patient billing as directed.
Order, and analyze data from multiple sources to formulate
differential diagnosis, plan of medical management and monitor and
evaluate outcomes
Utilize prescriptive privileges To utilize optimal communication
and teaching skills with patients, families, and all healthcare
providers and staff
Perform high risk skilled procedures required for neurology per
Medical Staff affairs privileging
Patient Advocacy: Uses scope of role to act supporting the
patient/family in facilitating meeting their concerns in resolving
ethical and clinical issues
Caring Practices: To integrate a compassionate, supportive and
therapeutic environment for patients/families.
To incorporate the practices supporting the exceptional patient
experience.
Collaboration: Involve the use of the multidisciplinary team as
well as the patient to promote optimal and realistic
goals/outcomes
Systems Thinking: To maneuver and manage the environment and system
resources to meet patient/family needs
Response to Diversity: Incorporate mind, body, spirit approach in
provision of patient centered care by recognizing and incorporating
cultural, spiritual, gender, race, ethnic, lifestyle,
socioeconomic, age and value differences in care decisions.
Clinical Inquiry: Uses evidence-based practices standards in all
aspects of care.
Participates in the collection of data, quality assurance analysis
and on-going evaluation of the effectiveness in established
standards of care.
Supports shared governance by participating in job related projects
which may include research, policy and policy / procedures, or
program development to improve the quality of patient care.
Credentials Required
Nurse Practitioner - Masters degree in Nursing, New Mexico Nurse
Practitioner license, ANCC or AANP certification required. Minimum
of two years experience preferred but not required.
Physician Assistant - Baccalaureate prepared CAHEA Certified
Physician Assistant or two (2) years working experience as a
Certified Physician Assistant, and licensed by the New Mexico Board
of Medical Examiners required. Minimum of two years experience.
