Job Description:
Overview: Rust Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse that
provides comprehensive care to patients undergoing gastrointestinal
procedures in the GI lab. This role involves collaborating with
gastroenterologists and other healthcare professionals to ensure
safe, effective, and patient-centered care. The GI Lab RN is
responsible for pre-procedure assessments, intra-procedure
assistance, and post-procedure recovery and education. The ideal
candidate will possess strong clinical skills, critical thinking
abilities, and a compassionate approach to patient care.--- -Type

electronic charting system - Qualifications:
- Associate Degree in Nursing
- State of New Mexico or Compact State Nursing License
- BLS certification REQUIRED at time of hire
- PALS Responsibilities:
- Conduct pre-procedure patient assessments, including health
history, vital signs, and patient education.
- Assist gastroenterologists during GI procedures, such as
endoscopies and colonoscopies, ensuring proper patient positioning
and monitoring.
- Administer medications, including sedation and analgesia,
following established protocols.
- Monitor and document patient responses to procedures,
identifying and addressing any adverse reactions or
complications.
- Provide post-procedure care and instructions, ensuring patients
understand recovery guidelines and follow-up care.
- Maintain sterile technique and infection control standards in
the GI lab.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement
individualized care plans.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ongoing
education to enhance patient outcomes and professional development.
