Position Summary:
Plan and implement curriculum and educational programs for
children, adolescents, or adults with specific disabilities. Assess
students abilities and develop individualized educational plans
consistent with treatment goals. Coordinate programs for
therapeutic purposes; integrate overall developmental goals into
the academic setting. Manage behavior of students to create a safe
physical and emotional classroom environment. Ensure adherence to
Hospitals and departmental policies and procedures. Patient care
assignment may include Neonate, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult, and
Geriatric age groups.
Detailed responsibilities:
* CURRICULUM - Plan, develop, write, and implement curriculum and
educational programs in accordance with educational/treatment goals
and student abilities
* CURRICULUM - May specialize in one or more areas of the
curriculum, such as physical education, art, or music
* TEACHING - Facilitate therapeutic groups and may teach academic
curriculum in a therapeutic classroom
* EDUCATION - Manage student behavior to encourage best possible
student educational experience
* EDUCATION PLAN - Interact with and participate in consultations
with specialists as appropriate in order to plan and prepare
individualized educational program in accordance with individual
goals
* PROGRAMS - May coordinate programs with related disciplines for
therapeutic purposes; attend multi-disciplinary meetings to
facilitate comprehensive program planning
* REPORTS - Prepare appropriate documentation and reports on
programs and on student progress
* SUPERVISION - May coordinate and lead the work of others
* DEVELOPMENT - Enhance professional growth and development through
participation in educational programs, reading current literature,
attending in-services, meetings and workshops
* PATIENT SAFETY 1 - Follow patient safety-related policies,
procedures and protocols
* PATIENT SAFETY 2 - Demonstrate proactive approach to patient
safety by seeking opportunities to improve patient safety through
questioning of current policies and processes
* PATIENT SAFETY 3 - Identify and report/correct environmental
conditions and/or situations that may put a patient at undue
risk
* PATIENT SAFETY 4 - Report potential or actual patient safety
concerns, medical errors and/or near misses in a timely manner
* PATIENT SAFETY 5 - Encourage patients to actively participate in
their own care by asking questions and reporting treatment or
situations that they don't understand or may "not seem right"

Physical Conditions:
Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally
